The Big Buddha

Category : Travel

Before we came to Hong Kong, the thing we wanted to see most was the Big Buddha.

We went, got tickets onto Ngong Ping 360 and came in to the crystal cabin, a cable car with a glass bottom that would take us to the village (and the Big Buddha). It was the longest cable car ride that we had been on. We flew across multiple mountains and saw the harbor and airport. Finally we came to the village. After walking a little further into the village we found out that cows and buffalo walked around the village. You could even pet them! They had a LOT of hair. There were also statues of the keepers of the chinese zodiacs. Mine is Vikarala. There was also the Po Lin Monastery. We did not go to it, although we did see the monks come out in the end. Then we went to the Big Buddha. I learned from my dad that it is the second biggest buddha in the world (the first biggest is in Taiwan) and it is made of bronze. You can also go inside it. There are people praying. If you go inside it, you can get up to the level of his hand. We came down and walked around the village a little more.

When we were already in the cabin it was night and the lights turned on in the city. We could see everything, and it was beautiful! When we came back I was tired (sleepy) and happy. It was a great day.

Bonus: guess what my general is armed with.
